Recording notice

The Emerging Manager Summit

What we record, and where it goes

We record the sound and video of every main-stage session, every masterclass and the Live Portfolio Construction Workshop.

  • Main stage: the keynote and War Stories. They go out publicly through the EUVC podcast. We also post short clips on social media.
  • Masterclasses and the workshop: three tracks at the same time (Fundraising, Investing and Firm building), and the workshop at 16:00. They go into the EUVC Academy, for its members.

The recordings give managers a lasting reference. They also let you catch a session that ran at the same time as another.

What we do not record

We do not record:

  • Pitch Roulette
  • Peer Circles
  • expert corners, such as banking and legal
  • 1:1s
  • lunch, breaks, the reception or the dinner

Please do not record any session yourself. The Application Terms explain.

Photographs

A photographer takes pictures on the day. EUVC and British Business Bank use them on social media, in newsletters and in the recap of the event. British Business Bank uses them under its own privacy notice.

In the acceptance questionnaire you choose whether you agree to appear in photos. You then get a lanyard in a colour that tells the photographer, who leaves you out if you said no. You can change your choice at the registration desk.

When you may appear

If you ask a question in Q&A or speak in a session, your voice or face may be in the recording. Your name and firm may be said or shown.

  • On the main stage, cameras may also show the audience. Main-stage recordings and clips are public.
  • In masterclass rooms, the cameras keep the back rows out of shot.

On the application form, you tick a box to say that you understand that sessions are recorded. The tick shows that you have read this notice. It does not take away your rights.

How to avoid appearing

You do not have to appear in a recording or a photograph. Saying no does not affect your place.

  • Choose the "no photos" lanyard in the questionnaire, or ask for it at the registration desk.
  • In a masterclass or the workshop, sit in the back rows. The cameras do not show them.
  • Tell a member of our staff, for example when you arrive.
  • Before you ask a question, say that you do not want it included in the edit. We will cut it.
  • Take your question to an expert corner or a Peer Circle. We do not record them.

If you are a speaker

Speakers sign a separate release. It covers how we use their recording. This notice does not replace it.

Our reason for recording you

EUVC Portugal, Lda (Alameda das Linhas de Torres, N.º 230 – 5º A, 1750-150 Lisboa, Portugal) is responsible for the recordings and photographs. When you appear in the audience or ask a question, we rely on legitimate interests: sharing what the Summit teaches with managers and with the public. You can object at any time. The Privacy Notice explains your other rights and how to complain.

Ask us to remove you after release

Email hello@eu.vc. Tell us the session and the time in the recording where you appear, or which photograph shows you. We will reply within one month.

We will normally remove you, for example by blurring your face or cutting the part where you speak. If we have a strong reason not to, we will tell you why.

Who can watch, and for how long

  • Main stage: anyone, through the EUVC podcast and our social media.
  • Masterclasses and the workshop: members of the EUVC Academy.

The recordings have no end date. You can ask us at any time to remove you (see above).

Changes

We will post changes here and update the date. We will email you about changes that matter.
